KM Toolkit Release Announcement:
The Knowledge Management Professional Society (KMPro) has announced that beginning with the February 8-12, 2010, KMPro CKM® certification workshop, the release of the KMPro KM Toolkit. The KM Toolkit will be included as supplement to the KMPro Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM)™ certification workshop materials and will provide KM implementation tools that focus upon Knowledge Discovery, Knowledge Creation, Knowledge Transfer, Knowledge Strategy and Knowledge Metrics.

The KM Toolkit will be under continuous development with updates available, but planned first release content includes essentials such as a sample Organizational KM Assessment, KM Low Cost & No Cost Implementation Techniques, and KM Strategy Development Worksheets for creating a KM Strategic Plan (Situational Analysis Worksheets, Vision/Mission Worksheets, Strategic Intent Worksheets, Strategic Goal Worksheets).

On June 2, 2009 the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) granted Federal trademark registration for the MKMP® (USPTO Registration No. 3630878) and CKMP® trademark (USPTO Registration No. 3630877). All prior applicable Federal and State trademarks remain in effect.

KMPro's training provider and owner of the MKMP® and CKMP® trademarks (as well as the CKM® trademark), Hudson Associates Consulting, Inc., is the originator of the CKM® workshop and applicable trademarks and has been providing the CKM® workshop since 1995 (and the CKM® trademark has been in effect since 1995). KMPro is a licensee of the trademarks which is used to support the KMPro CKM® Certification Program including the MKMP®, CKMP® and CKM® trademarks.

U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command CKO Appointed:
The U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) has appointed Mr. Joseph Oebbecke, CKMP™ as its Chief Knowledge Officer (CKO). The TRADOC CKO office will be providing strategy, oversight and guidance for all TRADOC KM activities. The TRADOC CKO is responsible for developing and supporting the Knowledge Management (KM) for the Army's Generating (Institutional) Force by establishing the process, personnel, and technology framework to leverage the art and science of KM to enhance the institutional support to the Army Operational Forces. The CKO will also work to synchronize Army KM initiatives across the Army Commands and ensure linkages to other Joint and Service KM initiatives. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Oebbecke served as the Chief Knowledge Integrator for the U.S. Army Warfighter Forum (WfF) initiative with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), and before that served as the Chief, Joint Individual Training, and Program Manager for the U.S. Army’s Joint Knowledge Development and Distribution Capability (JKDDC) at the TRADOC Headquarters.

Mr. Oebbecke holds both a KMPro Certified Knowledge Manager™ - CKM® and a Certified Knowledge Management Professional (CKMP)™ designations. Prior to Mr. Oebbecke's appointment, KMPro member and Certified Knowledge Manager™, Mr. Jim Bradley, CKM® had been serving as the Interim CKO. KMPro Announces its Continuing Education Unit (C.E.U.) Program:
KMPro is pleased to announce that those who need to obtain Continuing Education Unit (CEU) to meet professional continuing educational requirements will be able to receive CEU credits for attending the KMPro Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM)™ certification workshop. The CEU credit is a nationallly recognized unit of measurement for participation in continuing education programs. KMPro's new program will offer “KM-CEU”™ credits to be awarded based on the standard policy of one CEU being defined as 10 contact hours of participation in an organized education experience under sponsorship of KMPro and with qualified instruction. Attendees will be able to receive a certificate which shows the number of CEUs awarded and will verify that they have been awarded by a professional society. KMPro will maintain a record of that educational accomplishment for verification purposes.

The objectives of the KMPro KM-CEU™ program is to encourage participants to utilize educational resources to meet their personal and educational needs, with the recognition that individuals need to continue their education and keep themselves current in their chosen occupations and professions -- whether that be specific to knowledge management or to other related or unrelated fields.
