KM training since 1991, created the terms “Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM)” and “CKM Instructor (CKMI)” as the very first KM certification program, and then began formally offering KM certifications and other KM training in January 1995. He has been working in the field of Knowledge Management for 20
years (actively providing KM strategic planning, KM performance
measurement, implementation consulting, etc.).
KMPro's training provider remains today after 16 years as the world's longest serving provider of Knowledge Management training and certification to more than 5,000 individuals in many hundreds of organizations around the world (history of KM certification). In addition to having created the “Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM)” and “CKM Instructor (CKMI)” certification programs, he also created the KMPro Advanced Certification Program -- which includes both the “Certified Knowledge Management Professional (CKMP)”, “Master Certified Knowledge Management Professional (MKMP)” certification programs -- he has also created numerous other Knowledge Management and Innovation related certificate or certification programs, and has authored more than 80 training programs. Of particular note, Dr. Kirsch and the KMPro CKM certification are the only KM certification training ever specified as required continuous training within the U.S. Department of Defense's Joint community and the only KM certification training referenced in the only U.S. Department of Defense Joint, KM Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (KM TTP). Dr. Kirsch holds a Ph.D. in management (in addition to
both a MS and BS in management). He is a speaker and panel member at international Knowledge Management and Innovation conferences, a blogger with a large international following, a recognized expert on Knowledge Management / Strategic Knowledge Management, as well as strategic planning, performance measurement, balanced scorecard, and strategic thinking. He is president of a “Strategic Management” consulting firm (established in 1993), and has held corporate officer
positions in two Fortune 500 firms. Additionally, Dr. Kirsch has served
on adjunct faculty at the prestigious U.S. Federal Executive Institute
and also at eight other colleges and universities. He has served as
an Examiner for U.S. Government national quality award programs,
and has consulted to a broad range of Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 clients, government
agencies, and non-profits. He holds the following certification qualifications/designations: Certified Professional Consultant (CPC), Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM), Certified Knowledge Environment Engineer (CKEE)™, Certified Knowledge Leader (CKL),
Certified Innovation Manager (CIM)®, Certified Knowledge Management Professional (CKMP), Master Certified Knowledge Management Professional (MKMP), and CKM Instructor (CKMI).
