KMPro is an exciting, important, and interesting organization
where its more than 120,000 members are valuable to each other in terms
of professional development, networking, knowledge exchange and colleagueship.
Our Society is a source of challenge and friendship, and it provides opportunities
in both the field and the organization for growth and recognition.
Strong chapters that promote and practice knowledge management are key to
the success of our Society. KMPro is proud to now have more than 80 chapters
forming with chapter representation in North America, Asia, South America,
Europe, Middle East, and Australia and more chapters being added weekly!
The purpose of these chapters is to provide a local forum for your personal
and professional development; provide an opportunity to develop your leadership,
managerial, public speaking and group decision-making skills; provide a
local KM networking arena; and to provide a way to focus regionally on knowledge
management issues, yet maintain a true international connectivity.
Chapters provide an excellent way for professionals to understand and apply
knowledge management first hand. They also provide a gateway to leadership
roles and enhance networking experience. Chapters may host conferences,
distribute newsletters, and provide their members with region-specific information
that fosters professional growth. KMPro imposes NO fees upon its chapters,
and any fees necessary to support the chapter are decided upon by the chapters
and remain within the chapters.
All KMPro chapters are operated and controlled by the chapters and their
leaders, operating within the KMPro Bylaws. Chapters exist at the city or
regional levels with KMPro providing the knowledge management technology
and other IT resources necessary to enhance networking and development at
the chapter level. For example, KMPro provides for each chapter listservs,
discussion groups, blog access, calendar access, web presence, and chapter
"branded" email addresses so that members can use that as an address
to readily communicate to others that they are a "KM Professional."
Join a local/regional chapter (see chapter locations and listings)!
Interested in Starting a Chapter in Your
Area?
Are you interested in starting a new KMPro chapter in your area?
KMPro depends upon the volunteer power of its membership for establishing
a local presence through our chapters. If you'd like to have a KMPro chapter
in your area, we're glad to know of your interest! Your first step should
probably be to contact KMPro's
Chapter Advisor. It would also be a good idea to use our chapter listing
to contact the president of any nearby chapters.
KMPro chapters are local organizations that apply for a chapter charter
to operate as a chapter of KMPro. KMPro works in partnership with its chapters,
to better serve members and to advance knowledge management.
